Autodesk transition to Named User Program

Autodesk launched new subscription plans on May 7, 2020,  that is based on people and retiring plans based on serial numbers.

The new plans for named users will replace those based on serial numbers:

  • Maintenance plans will retire on May 7, 2021 and cannot be further renewed.
  • Subscriptions with multi-user access will retire on August 7, 2022 and cannot be further renewed.
  • Design & Creation Suites retired in April 2020* are no longer able to be renewed. If you own the product, please contact your reseller or Autodesk for further upgrade options.
  • As part of retiring multi-user access, Extra Territory Rights will retire on August 7, 2022, and cannot further be renewed.
  • Starting February 29, 2020, 2 or 3-year subscriptions will be not sold with multi-user access or allow renewals. Starting August 7, 2020 Autodesk will no longer sell new annual subscriptions with multi-user.

*The final versions of the 3ds Max Entertainment Creation Suite and Entertainment Creation Suite Ultimate were released in December 2020, and the final version of the Maya Entertainment Creation Suite was released in December 2019.

To transition to named user program:

For customers who own a subscription with multi-user access or maintenance, at your first renewal after May 7, 2020, Autodesk will help you transition to a plan for named users through trade-in offers.

When you trade-in your existing plan, you’ll choose from Autodesk´s new standard and premium subscriptions based on your preferences.

Please see the trade-in offers below.

    • For standalone maintenance: At your next renewal before May 7, 2021*, you can trade in one seat for one subscription at a cost consistent with what you pay today*.
    • For network maintenance: At your next renewal before August 7, 2023, trade-in one seat for two subscriptions (for one named user each) at a cost consistent with what you pay today*. Subscriptions with network maintenance plans will retire on May 7, 2021, and cannot be further renewed.
    • For multi-user subscribers: At your next renewal before August 7, 2023, trade-in one subscription for two subscriptions (for one named user each) at a cost consistent with what you pay today*. Subscriptions with multi-user plans will retire on August 7, 2022 and cannot be further renewed.
    • For perpetual license (without maintenance): If you’re using an older perpetual license, you have the opportunity to save on a 1-year or 3-year subscription on the same product you’re using now, or a different standalone product, including a collection.

*Current maintenance prices experience a 20% price increase on renewals after August 7, 2020.
