We help you
In the Knowledgebase, you can search for on-premises software, software as a service applications, freeware, and open source software to view their use rights and license terms. Each software entry has licensing documents and evidence that you can download. You can bookmark entries that are relevant to you and then retrieve them from your personal favorites area. You can request missing entries free of charge via the License Service Desk.
The entries in the Knowledgebase follow a unique product structure that consists of the manufacturer, the product family, a version, and an edition (for example, Microsoft Office 2019 Professional). In the detail view of an entry, you will find licensing information that may differ based on the license type. This information is displayed in different information clusters. In a separate cluster, you will find the commercial license articles and SKUs with which the software can be purchased. The availability of information plays a decisive role in the maintenance of data. Each entry in the Knowledgebase is created and released using the 4-eyes principle.
The Product Guides area lets you access a collection of current and legacy licensing documents. Those documents offer a general licensing overview of a specific software manufacturer. New documents will be published regularly, and legacy ones will be moved to an archive available to you.
The documents in the Product Guides section are arranged in descending order according to their publication period and are proactively checked at regular intervals for current versions, which are then supplemented. Each document is provided in German and English, depending on availability.
Learn about the key features of volume licensing agreements from major vendors. The information available in the Master Agreements section helps you better compare and evaluate the different contract components.
The different volume licensing contracts will be periodically reviewed and supported with appropriate documents. Please contact us if you want us to include contracts for another software manufacturer. Moreover, each product in the Knowledgebase contains a link to the corresponding manufacturer area in Master Agreements. In this way, you can review the licensing use rights next to the commercial conditions.
Find verified answers to practical cases of software licensing in the Use Cases area. Your starting point is always a specific question which can be individual and complex. The researched solutions are comprehensible and supported by documents of proof.
The answers are organized based on a software manufacturer and often relate to a specific product or scenario. The Use Cases can be searched by keywords and contain references to the original source. You are welcome to open a Use Case Ticket via the License Service Desk.
The SKU Tracker is a SKU search engine which covers over a million SKU (Stock Keeping Units; sometimes referred to as Manufacturer Part Numbers) and commercial license descriptions. Your search will result in a software manufacturer SKU and a normalized article text which is linked to the use rights available in the Knowledgebase.
Der SKU Tracker wird regelmäßig durch neue Einträge und Hersteller erweitert und verfügt über kaufmännische Lizenzdaten seit dem Jahr 2001. Sollten Sie einmal nicht die gewünschte SKU The SKU Tracker is constantly being updated with new entries and software manufacturers and covers commercial licensing data since 2001. If you ever do not find a match to a SKU, you are welcome to provide your search which we will then verify and include into the SKU Tracker. Use this SKU search engine to better understand ambiguous license purchases and to future-proof upcoming investments.
OSS LICENSE REVIEW
The OSS License Review area introduces you to the criteria which play an essential role in Open-source licensing and to which you should pay a great deal of attention when using Open-source licenses.
This area focusses on the most popular Open-source licenses and introduces you to the most important rights and obligations for each license. You can quickly search through the content and download all available license texts. Feel free to contact us if a certain Open-source license is not available.
Font Licensing familiarizes you with the use rights and license terms of fonts and explains how fonts can be used in different licensing scenarios. Licensing details are presented to you on the font foundry (manufacturer) level and are regularly updated.
Fonts are in many ways very similar to software. They are subject to specific use rights, used in very diverse scenarios, and the licensing options are correspondingly complex. However, fonts are rarely in an organizations’ focus when it comes to licensing, even though their misuse represents substantial economic and legal risks.
